DoubleGDP started in 2019 with a mission to help new cities connect with residents, accelerate growth, and deliver responsive public services. Over the last 3 years the new city market did not grow as quickly as we had expected and hoped, and we have thus decided to cease operations and shut down the company.
The arrival of spring and warmer weather for those of us in the northern hemisphere has coincided well with a recently announced expansion of our product focus. After two years learning and growing the DoubleGDP app alongside our partner cities, we have made the decision to expand our focus to the broader segment of planned communities of all shapes and sizes. As we began to consider this new type of community, we realized that many of them are just cities on a smaller scale with many of the same services that new cities provide. As you review our areas of product development below, you will see how this broadened focus has already begun to shape the features we are building.

Following the signing of a partnership agreement with Tilisi Development in Kenya, details of that partnership were captured in two recent news releases. CIO Africa and Construction Today published articles highlighting the benefits that Tilisi expect to reap from their partnership with us.

As I near the end of my first month as Head of Product here at DoubleGDP, I thought I would take an opportunity to provide you with some updates on the “what” and “why’’ of some of our recent product improvements and outline our areas of strategic focus as we set our sights on Q2 2022 and beyond.
